Reading Written Knitting Instructions

I started with reading written instructions and what I have learnt is do not skip any sections unless it's an add on as part of the design. Otherwise, follow the sequence and the pieces will come together when everything is done.

Found this link in knittinghelp.com that explains the abbreviations found in written instructions. Comes with videos for some as well...interesting.

Crochet - Chain and Single Crochet Stitch

You've learnt the basics of knitting, now to learn the basics of CROCHET. Crochet works on a single needle with hooks either on one end or on both ends.

Like knitting needles, crochet hooks come in different sizes. Which one to use depends on the thickness of the yarn you will be using for a given project.

Crochet Hook

Following video demonstrates how to start a slip knot, continue with chain stitches and to move up with a row of single crochet stitch. Keep repeating the single crochet stitch and you can make a dishcloth, a handphone pouch, a bag and if it's big enough, sewing up 2 square or rectangle pieces may just become your favourite blouse. Make the piece longer and you have got yourself a dress!! So what are you waiting for, get what you need and start to crochet....

Need help on getting the materials, give me an e-mail, a call or just drop by one of the venues for our meetups -

  • every Thursday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm @ HarbourFront Food Junction (level 3)

  • every Saturday from 2.30pm to 5.30pm @ Blk 608 Clementi West St 1 (study corner - void deck)
Some projects you can make with the basics of crochet.....a handtowel and a handbag

Crochenit

Read about this in a group that I was in and check this out. It's a combination of crochet and knitting. Really interesting. Click on the link and View Video which is second on the list. This cute auntie really demonstrates well. She is also very interesting to watch....I'm going to give it a try some day.
